<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Putting in a research request with RetailSphere™ is a breeze. Here’s how.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are two types of research requests: (1) a research request for information on the retailer or company and (2) putting a contact verification request to, as it sounds, verify a contact.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The beauty of either a research request or a contact verification request is they both go to the same place: our on-demand research team. And in both cases contacts are verified, but with a research request, the team goes far more in depth rather than confirming simply a contact’s status.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The main difference between the two requests is the type of research you will get.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As you prospect, you will find yourself seeing literally 450,000 retailer profiles. Once you find the retailer you are looking for you simply hit the “research request” button at the top right of the retailer profile page which brings up a box where you can enter a variety of need-based questions.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A typical research request might ask “Can you please find out of this retailer is expanding, and where?” Or you might ask the research team to find a specific job-related contact.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now where a contact verification request differs is you will see a handful of contacts under the retailer profile, and you can click on the three dots and choose to “verify the contact.” Our team will now go in and verify by calling the contact and make sure they are still at their job and retailer, or if not, the contact will be updated with new info, which will be emailed directly to you and also available in your Pipeline.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Research and contact verifications can also very easily be submitted from the “Activity Feed” of the CRM. If you’ve recently reached out to a retailer or contact through a<a href="https://retailsphere.com/blog/client-success/retailsphere-is-a-game-changer-offering-compelling-reasons-accuracy-and-speed/"> cadence</a>, your activity feed will show that activity. You can click on the retailer or contact (a sidebar pops up) and see all of the activities that have been conducted. You have several options, one of which is submit a research request.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Submitting a research request is also as simple as figuring out the retailer you want to bring to your location. But in addition, you can specify National Brand, Franchisor or Multi-Unit Group, while including qualifiers like square footage, anchor tenants wanted.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you have a specific brand in mind and/or don’t see the data you need, we’re happy to do some research for you!&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Click the “request research” button wherever you are in the platform and be as general or specific as you want in your requests.&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our team is constantly updating information on our brand profiles and creating new profiles at your request.&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Reminder: You <strong>can request research from a retail profile or within your pipeline:</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After receiving a research request from a RetailSphere™ client, the on-demand research team immediately hits the phones and works to get the appropriate site selector for the multi-unit group, franchisor, or national brand contact(s). <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Each day our research department gets research requests from commercial real estate companies looking for retailers looking to expand, contacts to call or a space to inquire about.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our team speaks to hundreds of retail contacts, site selectors and center owners to determine expansion needs and opportunities. Today we put one of them under the microscope and learn about those conversations.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We sit down with Sarah Lang, one of our researchers at RetailSphere.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>RetailSphere</strong>: What are some of the challenges you face when you call up a retailer or are working on a request for one of our clients?</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sarah</strong>: The smaller the retailer is, like a multi-unit group, we are trying to track down the owner. In that case it’s hoping we catch them at one of their locations, or get their cell phone from an employee, which they are often afraid to hand out.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>RetailSphere</strong>: But you always get it!</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sarah</strong>: Not always, but much of the time and we do so by being upfront. We let them know we have clients with ideal spaces for their expansion and trying to reach out. It’s always a conversation starter. That conversation may be “no way I’m expanding,” but it’s also sometimes “Huh, I wouldn’t mind hearing what they have in mind.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>RetailSphere</strong>: Do retailers or business owners ever get annoyed when you call to get expansion details?</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sarah</strong>: Quite the contrary. For most of the national brands, franchisors and much of the multi-unit groups, we have established lines of communication…relationships where when I call, they ask me what am I looking for today? That’s what really makes it fun. When a client puts in a request for expansion plans for Starbucks, I know who I’m dealing with.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>RetailSphere</strong>: So you and the other on-demand researchers call and email for expansion and contacts details, but what are tools are at your disposal?</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sarah</strong>: Well, without giving away all our secrets we use a lot of tools within Retailsphere (which clients have access to), including cadences, or marketing automation. It’s a game-changer for reaching and basically setting up a series of touch points and waiting for the responses to come in. We craft emails to retailers, business owners, reps and brokers, asking details in such a way that it’s a conversation they want to have and we get the details our clients need.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But it all starts with the phone. We believe in calling and getting details firsthand. That’s how we build relationships. Sometimes we use social media to get details as well, but more for supplemental details.</p>

Runnings started as an automotive supply store and was deeply rooted in selling farm and fleet supplies until the late 80’s when additional product lines were added.  They are currently expanding into several additional states.</strong></li>



<li><strong><a href="https://www.voodoodoughnut.com">Voodoo Doughnut</a> - Voodoo Doughnut started in Portland Oregon, and now is in Eugene Oregon, Denver Colorado, Austin Texas, and now L.A. California, was the brain child of Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon who had been friends for a while. They always wanted to start a business together. Something that would fit into an extraordinary Portland Oregon business climate. They are expanding nationwide.</strong></li>



<li><strong><a href="http://www.53.com">Fifth Third Bank</a> - At Fifth Third Bank, we are always listening to new ideas so that we can strengthen our commitment to you and the communities we serve. They are currently expanding in Florida and South Carolina.</strong></li>



<li><strong><a href="https://pretzelmaker.com/">Pretzelmaker</a> – they are expanding into several states, and are offering the opportunity to become a franchisee to develop and operate Stores which specialize in selling hand-rolled soft pretzels of various flavors, frozen pretzels, pretzel dogs, pretzel bites, and other pretzel-related products and toppings, and related food items and beverages. We offer 2 types of Stores: (a) Traditional Stores; and (b) Non-Traditional Stores. In addition, if you own and operate a Store, in certain circumstances we will offer you the right to offer and sell products at a separate location that we approve (“Satellites”).</strong></li>



<li><a href="https://www.tidalwaveautospa.com/">Tidal Wave Auto Spa </a>- <strong>Tidal Wave Auto Spa’s roots stem all the way back to the year 1999 when Scott and Hope Blackstock decided to add a car wash to their Thomaston, Georgia-based auto service center. We started with a simple, 5 bay self-service wand wash. Soon, we expanded the wash with a newly-designed, specialty mud bay, which proved to be a big hit with ATV and ORV enthusiasts.</strong></li>
